My proudest piece of work. I grew up loving the anime "One Piece" and always wanted to celebrate that. However, I never felt that my artistic skill was enough to reflect my love for it. Eventually I told myself that enough was enough and worked on this animation regardless of whatever my skill level was at the time, and for that, I am grateful that I did.
Another piece of fanart that I did but this time for one of my favorite games "Tales of Berseria" featuring my favorite character in the whole series "Laphicet". I loved his attack style and combo animations in the game so I wanted to replicate or at least build off of it in an animation of my own. I was quite happy with the result.
Growing up I loved watching Jackie Chan movies and developed a passion for martial arts flicks because of it. From that love, I found an interest in combat animation and this was one of my first attempts at exactly that. This piece taught me a lot about animation and their principles and how to apply that to 3D work. This will always serve as a reminder of what I learned and what I'm working towards.
Another piece of fanart featuring the character Laphicet. This is based on an existing character art from the game, just in pixelated form and marked the first time back into pixel art in a number of years. It was a ton of fun ton work on!
A piece of fanart featuring the character Oliver from the game NI No Kuni. This is based on an existing character art from the game, just in pixelated form like Laphicet above. The game holds a special place in my heart so I knew I had to do something to show my appreciation.
A bit of a departure from fanart but this piece features an original character design I came up with as a teenager. If you were to look at my sketchbooks from high school, you would only ever see this character on its pages. This is also the same character featured in my Jackie Chan inspired animation above!
Some earlier examples of my first attempts at pixel art and was what helped me gain acceptance into the game design program at Sheridan College. I grew up a huge fan of JRPG's and sought to try creating a typical JRPG menu in pixeled fashion.
Here is an example of my first ever attempts at 3D modeling and what helped me get into the game design program here at Sheridan College. I styled the swords off existing weapons from other games and some from references that I found online. The curved blade was the most difficult to create since my laptop at the time did not have enough power to handle those transformations. However, with perseverance, I was able to complete the piece and I am glad that I did.
